"Montoneros sounds as though its members have spent half a lifetime perfecting intricate runs and rhythms while listening to a whole lot of Don Caballero, Pinback and A Minor Forest. But where those acts typically escalate the intensity and aggression of their songs, Montoneros lets its tunes drift into delicate melodies that float by like spring clouds."
-Tom Murphy, Westword Magazine
Montoneros has shared the stage with renowned international acts such as Jimmy Eat World, Lydia, Hop Along, Rob Crow of Pinback, Tiny Moving Parts, Pinegrove, and many more, in addition to being nominated as one of 2015's best post-punk acts in Denver by Westword Magazine.
"Contemplative and raw, capturing the same upbeat sullenness that drew people to those early Modest Mouse albums." – Bandwagon Magazine
“Complex, yet beautiful, calm math rock layers that will stir a melancholy spirit.” – IDIOTEQ.com
"A must-listen for any confused twenty-something living in this uncertain world." – Westword Magazine
It's funny how fast you get going in the morning once you realize you've overslept. This feeling of urgency, this frantic call to create and actively participate in the world is what inspired Elias Armao to create this project in the winter of 2013. The initial incarnation of Overslept was a studio project where Elias wrote and recorded all of the instruments himself. Health (February of 2014) and Hush (September of 2014) were released in this time. Through those releases and playing acoustic shows in Denver, he met what would become the current incarnation: a four piece band made up of members from other local bands. Their first full length record was released independently on December 11th 2015, and is entitled "I've Been Keeping To Myself".
Instant Empire's unique style of aggressive indie rock has drawn comparisons over the years to The Hold Steady, The National, Manchester Orchestra and Bright Eyes. Their most recent LP, Lamplight Lost (2015), highlights the bands storytelling, songwriting and musical progression from previous releases. Lyrical, melodic, ambitious - Lamplight Lost represents a band that has found its voice. Instant Empire is lead singer Scotty Saunders with guitarists Sean Connaughty and Lou Kucera, Aaron Stone on bass, Doug Chase on keys and Tristan Kelley on drums.
