What or who is a SumGuy?
Phil Divine aka SumGuy is an underground poet, visual artist, & producer. SumGuy is originally from Dallas, TX, and currently resides in Denver, CO. His love for music started when he was just a child. He began to create songs and melodies when he was still in his car seat, and he has grown to be a man who shreds the stage today. His love for the HipHop culture has helped him to explore the world of graffiti and venture into mixing break beats, DJing, & freestyling. At the age of 17 he began using a turntable and free styling on a boom box with a mic. SumGuy continued to create songs for many years but never really took it too seriously. At the age of 24 he finally picked up a pen and pad to write his first entry entitled "Blood of The Bill Collector". Now, many books and years later, he has become a master of the microphone. SumGuy has shared the stage with many artists such as; King Magnetic (AOTP), Adlib (BAXWAR) , Toki Wright (Rhymesayers) Moodie Black (Fake Four) , Casual (of Hieroglyphics), Qwel & Maker, Noah23 (Fake Four), and many more. His whole theory on making music is to "Eat any beat, any time". With the variety of beats that he has selected, created & co-produced, he does just that. SumGuy uses a MPC500, MPK, APC40, MicroKorg, and a plethora of equipment for his productions.
With no thought of ever quitting, he has more audio and visuals on the way. So spread the word and be on the lookout! Until then, enjoy his free downloads at eyeyeseye.bandcamp.com and keep up with him @SumGuyRaps on any social media sites.
